Mind over Matter.

"People who mind don't matter. People who matter don't mind."

Oh, what truth there is in that statement. For me, if a person knows my flaws and loves me anyway, it's amazing. I know a lot of people who know a few of my faults, but they tend to overlook them because they don't talk to me a lot. There are those who could not get past my flaws, and will never become great friends with me. Then there are those who have seen me at my worst, and stayed to hold me until I was better.

These are the heroes.
The ones with broken hearts
Held together by the nothing
that remains from years of everything.
These are the true companions.
Those who don't have
Any reason to stay in touch.
But do it anyways
Because they believe the unbelievable.
They trust the untrustable.
The see the invisible.
They hope in the lost cause.
Providers of a listening ear,
Or a helpful word of advice.
Friends who know me through and through.
Ones who know that I'm no good.
They stay around
Just to see the end.
In their hearts they know,
That there must be something
Good in me.
Just as I can tell
There is something good in them.
Those who are there
Through whatever situation.
Are the ones
Who matter.
They don't mind
That I'm not perfect.
That I'm flawed.
It's okay with them
That I'm less than complete.
Thank you to all
Who have stayed by my side.
No matter what.
Even when I didn't want you to.
You are a hero.

I have an incurable habit of being poetic at the most random times. I was sitting atop my roof as I wrote that, and yes. It was about specific people. Each line had a person attached to it. Which is actually sad if you think about some of the lines. Anyways. I felt the need to post, and this is what happened.

This is beautiful. I love it. (And I was totally impressed when I realized you wrote it yourself. =P)
